A rational number is formed by dividing any two integers.
A number is an integer in which nothing after the decimal occurs or the decimal part is zero.
Examples : 10, 5, 7, 8, 3, 34, 2976, 456 , Π = 22/7
√ (2)= ? is not rational number
√ (2) is not obtained by dividing any two integers, so √ (2) is not a rational number. Such number is called irrational number.

In other words : The number which can be written as P / Q where Q is not equal to zero(0) is there , Q and P both are integer , is called rational number.
Example :
P Q P/Q
6 5 6/5
7 8 7/8
9 29 9/29
3 123 3/123
10 3 10/3=3.333…
is rational number
12 0 12/0=∞
is not rational number
