महाभारत के युद्ध के बाद हस्तिनापुर में राजा परीक्षित का राज्य था। राजा परीक्षित पांडवों के प्रपौत्र व अभिमन्यु और उत्तरा की संतान थे। राजा परीक्षित के समय में प्रथम बार कलयुग का आगमन होता है राजा परीक्षित जब कलयुग से उसका परिचय पूछते है तो वह कहता है “मै कलयुग हूँ यह युग परिवर्तन कापढ़ना जारी रखें “आया था कलयुग पहली बार जब , क्या हुआ था तब !”
